There should be very little custom lore on The Thin Veneer. But sometimes, making rulings that have no basis in any source is a matter of necessity. You will find those here.

The serpent bracelets

All within the Exiled Lands wear a serpent bracelet, inventions of the giant-kings to trap humans within. Those who wear a serpent bracelet cannot travel beyond the Cursewall. Additionally, part of their original purpose was to allow open communication between the giant-kings and their slaves. This same magic now allows exiles to communicate freely, regardless of the language they speak. A Shemite speaking their native tongue to a Nordheimer will be understood, even if the Nordheimer has never heard the Shemitish language. The automatic translation extends to written language.

The above is all established lore, but as a piece of custom lore, the serpent bracelet renders its wearer infertile. This enforces the server’s ban on characters getting pregnant.

The visibility of the bracelet is forcibly enabled on your character’s body via Tot ! Custom. If you do not like the aesthetics of the bracelet, you may remove it by equiping ‘Bracelet Removal’ (or any other item which obscures/removes the bracelet) as armour in your character’s hand slot. You are still expected to keep some form of magical bracelet, collar, or anklet. You are given some leeway to portray this.

Emerald coins

None know exactly whence the emerald coins come, but all know that they are the currency of the land. These rare, intricate, age-worn coins are scattered throughout the Exiled Lands. They are thought to have been devised by the giant-kings as some sort of scrip to incentivise their slaves, but records of this are lost to the ages. The reason that the people of the Exiled Lands favour emerald over gold and silver for trade is partly historical, and partly owing to emerald’s scarcity—there are no known emerald veins anywhere, therefore its supply is utterly finite.

You are able to gain emerald coins every two days via /kit. How your character acquires these coins in-character is up to you. Here are some suggestions:

  • The coins were found under a layer of dirt, or in some forgotten stash.
  • Your character made trade for these coins.
  • Your character laboured somewhere for these coins.
  • Slaves employed by your character laboured somewhere for these coins.

Yamatai

Robert E. Howard never wrote about the Yamatai included in Conan Exiles, and they were never expanded on in any of the role-playing games either. They are an invention of the Conan Marvel comics, and have altogether scarce little written about them.

Yamatai are included on this server because their inclusion is not deemed harmful to the setting, and the assets are already available in-game. However, given very little lore to work with, it is the player’s responsibility to draw inspiration from the following sources:

Geographically, Yamatai is an island east of Khitai at the edge of the world.

Perhaps in the future, this section will contain a more satisfying summary of the above sources.
