Community rules
Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing.
These are the rules which govern all OOC communication and interaction. We take these rather seriously, so please ascertain that you have read them.
1. Be a reasonable adult
Both literally and figuratively. To participate on this server, you must be eighteen years or older, and you must compose yourself a little. We’re all adults here, and we can resolve most matters like adults. The ability to communicate kindly, transparently, and with tempered emotions is a hard prerequisite to being on this server.
2. Be convivial
Try to maintain an atmosphere of conviviality. This means that we can all live alongside each other, creatively and autonomously doing our own thing, or mirthfully and socially engaging with the community. The purpose of our community is to have fun, and there is enough space for each of us to do that in our own ways.
3. Assume good faith
When someone does something strange or something that seems disagreeable to you, please assume good faith. Perhaps they acted in ignorance, or they have some good reason that explains their behaviour, or you misinterpreted or misunderstood the situation. You are encouraged to politely clear the air instead of accusing people of foul behaviour, or letting a feeling of loathful discontent fester within yourself.
4. Zero tolerance for bigotry
Someone who purposely espouses bigotry will be removed from the server. Types of bigotry include but are not limited to discrimination on the basis of sex, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, nationality, or religion.
5. OOC is safe-for-work
Although Conan Exiles is Conan Exiles, all public OOC communication remains safe-for-work.
6. Be tactful of controversial topics
As per the first rule, you are a reasonable adult, and you have been on this Earth for a while. You know which topics stir controversy. You are expected to exercise tact when interacting with them, or when discovering that something is more controversial than you had thought. Ask yourself whether a Conan Exiles server is the correct environment to talk about certain things, whether you could have the conversation only with select people, or whether conviviality is harmed by engaging in certain discussions.
It would be easier to ban controversial topics, but this leads to undesired scenarios like someone being unable to express themselves because their identity has been made controversial.
Some topics are significantly beyond the scope of what is reasonable to talk about on a Conan Exiles role-playing community, and are banned from discussion.
7. Respect boundaries
When someone expresses certain boundaries, you are expected to respect these boundaries in your interaction with them.
8. No streaming or recording
Streaming or recording gameplay is forbidden.
9. No generative AI
This community is a space for human creative expression. You are not allowed to use generative AI or large-language models to produce backstories, emotes, poetry, images, or any other textual or image-based expression.
This rule concerns itself with the output of generative AI. Using generative AI as part of your creative process is not forbidden, so long as you do not present other players with the machine’s output, verbatim or edited.
10. No alts
You are not allowed to have multiple virtual identities, either in-character or out-of-character.
11. Open tickets generously
Well-intentioned people may hesitate to open tickets for small things, but you are encouraged to open tickets generously, to receive aid and to report rule breaks.
